12th April 2025 Concert with Harmonize and Alys Prosser in aid of Latch - Abergavenny
On 12th April Blaenavon MVC performed at a joint concert with Cwmbran based mixed choir, Harmonize, at Our Lady and St. Michael’s church in Abergavenny.
The concert was arranged by final year Musical Theatre degree student and Harmonize member Alys Prosser to raise funds for LATCH Welsh children’s cancer charity, a charity that supported Alys and her family during her own cancer treatment as a young child.
The two choirs are no strangers to each other having regularly performed jointly over the years but this was the first time they had been together since the pandemic. The fantastic acoustics of the church provided an excellent setting for the contrasting styles and was well received by a large and appreciative audience.
We finished our performance with a new piece to our repertoire, Gwinllan a Roddwyd, before the evening ended with both choirs coming together to support a solo performance by Alys of God Help The Outcasts from Disney’s version of The Hunchback Of Notre Dame and conclude with a rousing Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau (Land of My Fathers).
It was a hugely enjoyable and successful evening that raised over £900 for LATCH and the choir received very positive feedback from many in the audience and also from members of Harmonize who commented that we sounded better than ever.
