Ben Chester-Master
Chairman and Baritone
Ben is a man of many passions, balancing his role as chairman of the Blaenavon Male Voice Choir with aviation, motorcycling and building 3/4 scale replicas of WW 2 fighter aircraft. Other interests include writing and of course, singing.
For him, joining this Welsh Male Voice Choir, as a Baritone, was the culmination of a long held ambition and his love for the Borderlands of Wales.
Ben is delighted to be part of the Choir’s growth and development.
Graham South
Secretary and 2nd tenor
Graham, our secretary , brings decades of communitee dedication to the group. He first joined the choir 50 years ago and rejoined a couple of years back, quickly becoming central once again. Graham keeps the choir organised through careful administration and clear communication, and he’s well known locally for the huge amount he does for the community, regularly volunteering at the local club.
Tim Phillips
Treasurer and Top Tenor
Tim plays a vital role in managing the financial health of the choir. This involves overseeing the choir’s budget, tracking income and expenses, and ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded accurately.
Lawrence Worsley
Public Relations and Vice Chair and 2nd Tenor
Lawrence is focused on public relations as well as driving our online presence.
Antony Yemm
Fundraising and Sponsorship and Baritone
Antony Yemm, the Fundraising and Sponsorship Manager for Blaenavon Male Voice Choir, is instrumental in driving wider support and securing vital resources, enabling the choir to grow from strength to strength. With a strong background in management, Antony ensures the choir's sustainability and continued success.
Eric Watson
Financial Secretary and Baritone / 2nd Tenor
Eric provides financial management support. Without his structure and drive we would not be where we are today.
Trev Spencer
Patrons Officer and Baritone
Trev serves as the crucial bridge between the choir and its supporters, fostering relationships that enhance community engagement and financial backing. This role involves cultivating and maintaining positive connections with patrons. Watch this space over upcoming months.
Trev has picked this role up from Daniel Davies recently. We thank Daniel for his hard work as patrons office and also Chairman.
James Osborne
Events Officer and Baritone
James plays a key role in shaping the choir’s events and performances, ensuring everything runs smoothly and professionally. Although he has been with the choir for only two years, he has quickly become central to our planning and organisation, bringing energy and reliability to every occasion.
His work strengthens the choir’s presence in the community and supports the continued growth of our concerts and engagements.
Mike Tanner
Welfare Officer and Baritone
The welfare officer addresses any concerns related to member welfare, such as mental health, emotional support, and interpersonal dynamics within the choir.

Mike Clarke
Librarian / Social Media and Bass
Mike Clarke, our librarian and social media/webmaster. In addition to managing the choir's music library and handling its online presence, Mike is also a former scrum-half and loves to travel. His work to grow our Facebook presence to well over 3 thousand followers is a testament to the hard work and his attitude to every session we have.
Gerard Cunningham
Committee Member and Top Tenor
Gerard is the newest addition to our committee team and brings a fresh perspective to the choir’s leadership. As our only Irish member, he adds a unique voice to the group’s character and community spirit. Gerard has quickly become a valued part of the committee, supporting the choir’s work with enthusiasm and commitment.
Geraint York
Committee Member and Baritone
Geraint York, recently steped down as our secretary. And we want to thank him for his tieless drive and dedication to music in Blaenavon. However we continue to get the benefits of his knowledge as part of our committee.

Having joined less that a year ago Chris has enthusiastically taken on board noy just the musical elements of the choir but also is the first to volunteer to support our recruitment campaigns
