Annual Concert 2026

BMVC Annual Concert – Sunday 28 June 2026

On Sunday 28 June 2026, Blaenavon Male Voice Choir welcomed a packed audience to the Workmen's Hall for another highly successful Annual Concert. Under the direction of Andrew Protherough Jones, supported by accompanists Gaynor Smith and Ailsa-Jane Frazer, the choir delivered an entertaining and varied programme showcasing the rich tradition of Welsh male voice singing.

The first half featured favourites including Myfanwy, Divine Brahma, Ave Verum, The Lord's Prayer, Cwm Rhondda, The Water Is Wide / Ar Lan y Môr, Tydi a Roddaist, and Pilgrims Chorus, alongside a special performance by the Guild Strings Quartet

Following the interval, the choir continued with An American Trilogy, Ride the Chariot, O Love, Y Tangnefeddwyr, Deus Salutis, and Bydd Myrdd o Ryfeddodau, a hymn with a special connection to Welsh Patagonia that resonated deeply with the audience. The evening concluded with a finale and the National Anthems. We were honoured to have Jeremy Woods in attendance from Pategonia who has been instrumental in bringing this amazing Hymn back to Wales.

BMVC extends its sincere thanks to our President, Tessa Hodges, Principal Patron The Rt. Hon. Lord Murphy of Torfaen,. our Vice Presidents, Patrons, Sponsors, special guests, and everyone who supported the event.  Special thanks also go to the Guild Strings Quartet, our musical team, volunteers at the Workmen's Hall and Constitution Club, and all those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the evening such a success.

The concert was a wonderful celebration of music, friendship and community spirit, and Blaenavon Male Voice Choir thanks everyone who attended and helped make the evening such a memorable occasion. 🎶
